Discovering the origin and relocation of production
Initially dawning from persia, but carrying its legacy in afghanistan, Ziegler rugs have a lengthened heritage. The roots are traced back to the sultanabad region of Iran. However, the economic sanctions imposed, ceased the manufacturing of these rugs in iran. Thereafter, production of Ziegler rugs was relocated to Afghanistan. The Hazara community’s skilled artisans embraced the Ziegler design, embodying their own cultural touch into these rugs.Â
Hallmark; a color palette of natural hues
Ziegler rugs are a fine blend of ancient craftsmanship of traditional Persian rugs and modern rug weaving techniques.Â
Ziegler rugs feature a soft and muted color palette, extracted from the natural hues found in woods. Thickly hand-knotted rugs are crafted with vegetable dyes, giving off soft and subtle vibes. The hallmark for the ziegler rugs lay in their repeated patterns, persian motif style and high quality material used onto an open field. The rugs often lack a central medallion, which would stand upright for a traditional as well as modern styled rug. Â
